Its "Nupur".
In the serial, Hema malini is a bharatanatyam dancer. And Mohan Agashe is the manager of her dance troop. The serial starts in UK, where Hema has gone for a show. And Mohan Agashe tries to sexually exploit her or something like that. So she returns to India in middle of the tour and loses all her contracts because of this. While left with no work, she decides to travel, during which she finds a guru in a small temple in Tamil Nadu. The guru makes her realize that, Bharatnatyam is not just a dance but a language. In the end she emerges as one of the greatest in the business.

The Arun Govil one had Sudhir pande, but I dont thing he used to say "thand rakh" that seems to be some other serial. I remember that it had Sudesh Beri playing Arun Govil's younger bro. The serial got stretched into post independence days with Sudesh beri not getting a job because of having a "kranti kari" background. They also had a sis named.. gayatri.. my mon still refers to the actress as gayatri. Somebody give the name of the serial please.

gayatri, i think that it is because we did not have any channels then and we always used to wait with bated breath for our favourite serials. i still treasure the days when we used to wait for vikram aur betal. it used to be telecast, if i am not wrong, at about 3.30 PM on sunday, in case some sunday we used to miss it for some reason (most of the times having a sunday afternoon nap), there was an intolerable sense of guilt. there was no method by which we could watch the particular episode again. VCRs were luxury items then. we barely had a TV, a black and white one at that, dyanora was it's name, now the brand itself is gone for good. this TV was bought after a lot of coaxing. my parents had yielded with the condition that we would study well thenceforth. boy!!!, to what extent our parents had gone to satisfy our small desires, eventhough living hand to mouth, all that brings tears to one's eyes.
expectation always increases love, as everyone would agree. that i think is the usp of these old serials.

kaaliganj ki bahu to ab bhi telecast hota hai. Just saw it the other day. It had Nutal in the role of kaligang ki bahu. I dunno the name of the main protagonis. it also had rita bahaduri in the role of the mother of the main protagonist....Kaliganj ki bahu is murdered n the story revolves around how the hero tries to get her justice...

Also I recall the story of another serial but not the name. It's about this ekdam awaara street kid who lives on this beach.He is accused of theft by a family who comes to celebrate a picnic there. I dont remember anything else, but it was a beautiful serial. Wonder if anybody recalls the name...

On of the stories was adapted from an English str\ory " The Tribute" where a brother moves away to city and then there is batwara of property in the village when his father dies or something happens, then he goes to the village and leaves all his property to his brother???? saw it only once. Telematch (Transtel Cologne) was a really funny competition between two german towns and was not limited to sunday mornings...it was a gap filler that used to pop-up whenever DD screwed up! specially during wimbledon and on saturday afternoons.

It is about a lady (the actor's name is 'something' Sharma)who's interested in furniture design. Her workaholic husband (the guy who plays 'Bharat' in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan)is not too keen abt this. Rajni is not correct. Rajni was quie entertaining. In contrast this serial was very serious, as much as I recall, Priya was the only actor cast in most of the episodes, sololiquizing, dreaming.

It amazing how you remember all this. I don't recall anything about this serial but I know I used to watch it. And I think the title song was pretty much the name of the serial with the note held on Raju.

I distinctly remember that episode where Sushmita Mukherjee plays the crazy wife to Aman Verma (I think). Though I had forgotten that it was an episode in Mitti Ke Rang. It was so crazy that it somehow left a lasting impression on me. At that time I was scared but now I take it in an abstract sense, in that when relationships don't work that is how it must feel like. Well, just a personal point of view!

I don't remember the name of the protagonist but it's a story about a husband remembering his wife who is dead now. It's always in the flash back wherein the husband dreams of their good old days. It's a perfect relationship, they are too much in love, a marital bliss, so to say. They were quite rich and most of his dreams show his wife sitting in a swing.
The last episode is a shock where it is revealed how his wife dies.
I think it was aired on Tuesdays.

This was a serial about a team of Naval officers who uncover smuggling cases.
Something like "Sea-Hawks", but in the late 80's.
There was one episode where a girl is hired by a company & paid a grand salary. But unknmown to her - she & her mom are being used as agents to smuggle stuff in & out of the country.

I think you are referring to Sigma, India's reply to "Star Trek". Shakti (with a stupid burnt scar on his face), Commander (Arun Govil good heavens!), Zakakoo with orange peel over his head. Was pretty horrible all in all!
Does anyone remember Star Trek being shown on Sunday mornings?...those were the days! We used to make our own transmitters with two matchboxes and couple of rubberbands!
There was another Sci-fi serial shown on sundays much later. It was called Jantar-Mantar...as psychedelic as its name, it had Anjan Srivastava as an absent-minded soul.

I think you are referring to "Chunauti" (it dealt with drugs too)...we have discussed it long back. Then there was "Subah" which was like a sequel to Chunauti. Both had nice title songs and we probably had discussed them too. But here it is again for your reference:

Subah was not a sequel to Chunauti. In fact, Subah came before Chunauti. Subah had a sequel-- it was called Inkaar.

Spectrum quiz is correct...it was just like any other quiz program with participants from SAARC countries. I remember the backdrop, etc but nothing remarkable as such. May be that's why you dont remember it!
